Open Ears, Sounds of the Ojai Music Festival is coming to KCSB!
The 79th annual Ojai Music Festival returns to Libbey Bowl and other Ojai venues on June 5th through the 8th, filling the town with new music from contemporary composers. This year, you can preview the festival by tuning in to KCSB’s special broadcasts of Open Ears: Sounds of the Ojai Music Festival, featuring interviews with a variety of performers and living composers coming to Ojai to perform, organized by the 2025 Music Director, Claire Chase.
- The special broadcasts start on Monday May 26th at 6 PM on KCSB’s Joyful Cosmos
- The Orchestral Oasis continues the Festival previews on Wednesday May 28th at 11 AM to 1 PM
- Friday the 30th at 7 AM, Lux Obscura will feature the Sounds of the Ojai Music Festival
- The final four-hour block starts on Friday the 28th at noon with the Slow Daze program
The 2025 programs are written and produced by Ojai-based composer Will Thomas and are hosted by Christopher Noxon, they feature interviews with Claire Chase, Annea Lockwood, Marcos Balter, Liza Lim, and other festival artists, their compositions, and their performances.
The Open Ears podcast – OJAICAST – is published at the festival website, ojaifestival.org, where you can find the schedule of the 2025 festival performances as well. The previous four years of OJAICAST are also available to hear more about past editions of the Ojai Music Festival.
