Firefighters from across the state continue their battle against The Thomas Fire. Unhealthy air quality, along with intermittent power outages prompted UC Santa Barbara officials to postpone final exams, which were supposed to take place this week. Instead – the many services on campus are closed and students have left town.

Westmont College in Montecito wrapped up its fall quarter in a hurry, because the campus is in the mandatory evacuation zone. With students gone – CAL Fire set up its Operational Headquarters on the campus. KCSB’s Lisa Osborn spoke with Dr. Gayle Beebe, president of Westmont College, to find out more about firefighting operations and the abrupt ending to the school quarter.
