In honor of Black History month, The County Board of Supervisors honored 19 Black health care workers, entitled “health care heroes,” for their contributions to the Santa Barbara community. KCSB’s Zuri Wilson speaks with Lawanda Lyons-Pruitt, president of the Santa Maria and Lompoc chapter of the NAACP and one of the speakers at the event, about racism in health care and the significance of honoring Black contributions to society not solely within health care, but within all fields.
