SUMMER BROADCAST SCHEDULE 2007

Friday, September 21st at 7pm: Men’s Soccer vs. Colombia
Colombia 1, UCSB 5

On slip ‘n slide conditions at Harder Stadium, the #14 Gauchos convincingly defeated Colombia University with three goals in a twelve minute span over the first and second halves. An unassisted goal by senior forward Tino Nunez came early on, but the Lions responded with only their second goal of the season to tie the match in the 36th minute. UCSB surged back in front with three goals soon after with the highlight being a rocket from senior forward Andrew Proctor and the Gauchos move to 3-2-1 with the win.

The defending National Champion Gaucho squad began their 2007-2008 season by battling through two overtimes to a tie at Maloney Field. After a scoreless first half, sophomore midfielder Ciaran O’Brien scored his first goal for UCSB and junior forward Nick Perera added to the lead with a quick shot assisted by junior midfielder Eric Avila. The Cardinal responded with two goals in less than three minutes late in the game and neither team would break the deadlock in two extra periods.
