Verse-chorus-verse-chorus. Well earned nap. Until the middle 8 came along, often also called the bridge, even though some musicologists argue the two are different, if for no other reason than that gives them something to do in the field they work in. This week’s theme explores the glories of the bridge, which, just like the ones we walk-drive-train over, have taken all sorts of forms over the years. (How often the middle 8–that’s for bars–not that kind of bars, c’mon–has occurred anywhere but the middle we won’t even hazard to guess.) That means you can hear Horace Silver and The Hold Steady, Pink Floyd and Peter Blegvad, Dizzy Gillespie and Drive-By Truckers. And more, we just got bored by our alliteration.
“Frank ‘n’ George” airs Tuesdays 10 am – 12 noon this summer.
