Author of the best-selling new release The Wes Anderson Collection (Abrams Books, 2013), Matt Zoller Seitz is also editor-in-chief at RogerEbert.com; staff television critic at New York Magazine and Vulture.com; and a champion of the video essay (a YouTube-era creative phenomenon).

Monday’s “The Freak Power Ticket” was largely devoted to the life and influence of the iconic film critic and writer Roger Ebert, who died last April at the age of 70. Seitz reflected on Ebert’s skills and humanity, and how the relaunched website is being designed to extend his great legacy.

The interview also addressed Seitz’s own career as a film/television critic and journalist; his Pulitzer nomination in 1994; the role and responsibilities of critics; and connections between cinema’s so-called “American New Wave” movement and TV’s current creative renaissance.

Dubbed “Radio Ebertfest” by Coe, a podcast of the program is now available for streaming and download immediately below. (Update: the finale of this conversation, focusing on The Wes Anderson Collection, aired on Monday, March 17th. To hear that, CLICK HERE)
