KCSB-FM has joined forces with Granada BooksMagic Lantern Films, and the Friends of Santa Barbara Public Library to host film and television critic, author, and filmmaker Matt Zoller Seitz, who will present a pair of free multimedia talks on The Wes Anderson Collection, a recently-released examination of the writer-director’s body of work.

Matt Zoller Seitz is the editor-in-chief of, TV critic for New York Magazine and, and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in criticism. Along with his extensive work on Anderson, Seitz is also very well informed about an array of issues in the worlds of cinema, television, new and digital media, and publishing.

As film, pop-culture, and independent-media consciousness is strong within KCSB’s ranks, our programmers and staff members are excited about Seitz’s appearances, which are also very timely given the highly-anticipated upcoming release of Anderson’s latest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel (on March 7th).

On Friday, February 21st, 830pm at the Isla Vista Theater (960 Embarcadero del Norte, 93117), Seitz will present a visual examination of The Royal Tenenbaums, and share stories and anecdotes about his work (including The Wes Anderson Collection).  (For this event, ample parking will be available at the nearby university campus and at UCSB lots around the theater.)

The following evening, Saturday, February 22 from 7 – 9pm, at the Santa Barbara Public Library’s Faulkner Gallery (40 E. Anapamu St.), Seitz will give a second lecture, and offer further insights into his work, including in-depth discussion on Wes Anderson and his films.

On both nights, Granada Books will be selling copies of his book and Seitz will be available for signings after the presentations.

The Wes Anderson Collection is the first in-depth overview of Anderson’s filmography, guiding readers through his life and career. Previously unpublished photos, artwork, and ephemera complement a book-length conversation with Anderson. Interview and images are woven together in a meticulously designed text that captures the spirit of his films: melancholy and playful, wise and childish—and thoroughly original.

Wes Anderson is one of the most influential figures from the past two decades of American cinema. A true auteur, Anderson is known for the visual artistry, inimitable tone, and idiosyncratic characterizations that make each of his films— Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Moonrise Kingdom—instantly recognizable as “Andersonian.”
