KCSB Sponsors 2014 Fund for Santa Barbara Social Justice Award for Documentary Film at SBIFF (January 30-February 9)

KCSB-FM is again partnering this year with the Fund for Santa Barbara, which presents the fifteenth edition of its Social Justice Award for Documentary Film 2014, part of the the 29th Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). The festival runs from Thursday, January 30th through Sunday, February 9th.

As part of the SBIFF, the Fund for Santa Barbara recognizes a slate of documentary films dealing with critical social, economic, political and environmental issues. Of the eight feature films in the Social Justice Award for Documentary Film competition, four are receiving their World Premieres, two are US Premieres, and two are West Coast Premieres.

This year’s Festival will also feature a Social Justice Shorts Program.

On Friday, January 31st, at 5pm, the Fund for Santa Barbara will host a reception with the nominated filmmakers at Sullivan Goss – An American Gallery/Arts & Letters Café (7 East Anapamu Street). Attendees will meet nominated filmmakers and learn about their work. Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $25. Platinum Pass-holders are admitted free. As space is limited, reservations are requested.

The winning film will be announced at the Festival’s Closing Night Award Ceremony on February 9th.
