Of his next broadcast, KCSB programmer Joseph Miller writes: “Monday morning, January 20th, on ‘The Classical Now,’ I will dedicate the second hour to UCSB Arts & Lectures upcoming marathon screening of Godfrey Reggio films on Saturday, January 25th at the Arlington Theatre. My guest at 7am will be Roman Baratiak, Associate Director of UCSB Arts & Lectures. The Qatsi Trilogy of films, plus Reggio’s newest Visions, represent the enduring and monumental collaboration between the avant-garde filmmaker and composer Philip Glass. We will talk about Baratiak’s attraction to, and assessment of these unusual films, and what accounts for their odd vision and mesmerizing affect. We will also listen to soundtrack selections by Philip Glass.”
