A major exhibition celebrating the legendary filmmaker Stanley Kubrick at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) closes at the end of this month.

Of Monday’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket,” producer/host Ted Coe writes:

“Since April, I’ve been working my way through the movie career of Stanley Kubrick.

My next hour on the radio will reimagine his science-fiction epic, 2001: A Space Odyssey, with a playlist featuring classical music heard on the original soundtrack, selections from composer Alex North‘s ‘lost score,’ sounds from and commentary about the film.

I’ll touch on allegations of Kubrick’s involvement in a Moon landing conspiracy, and the widespread theorizing and speculation surrounding all of the director’s works.

We’ll also hear jazz, classic rock, and post-rock songs inspired by or otherwise associated with this cinematic masterpiece from 1968, which was co-written by novelist Arthur C. Clarke.

Plus a fascinating snippet that reveals the source for the character of HAL 9000.
