Cool Summer Presents and Santa Barbara’s Ghost Tiger co-host the indie-rock quintet’s all-ages record-release party tonight, Thursday, June 6th, 8pm at SOhO Restaurant & Music Club. This past Monday, June 3rd, vocalist/songwriter Alixandra Macmillan-Fiedel, bassist Kevin Evans, keyboardist Emma Huston, and lead guitarist Christopher Norlinger all returned to the KCSB studios to appear on “The Freak Power Ticket” with host Ted Coe (drummer Chris Stansell was not able to join in). They played Ghost Tiger tracks plus musical selections by the kickoff-event’s opening acts, and conversed about the band’s relatively brief history, musical training, and creative output.
Ghost Tiger brings together a contemporary indie-rock sound that is also influenced by ’60s girl-group and psychedelic/folk-rock harmonies, classical composition, and even non-western rhythmic influences.
Tonight, to celebrate their debut studio recording, BirdFeeder, on 7″ vinyl, Ghost Tiger will be joined on stage by the LA band Torches, indie surf-pop quartet Dante Elephante, and lo-fi quartet Islay Street. A music video for “BirdFeeder” also debuted this week at the music blog thewildhoneypie.com.
Thanks to Ghost Tiger, Torches, and Dante Elephante for permission to include the complete music tracks archived here.
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs weekly on Mondays in the Spring from 11am-12noon.
