In honor of a major Kubrick exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), which is up now through June 30th, the program will explore this film master’s artistry, while also beginning a two-part reflection on the comic genius Peter Sellers, who collaborated with Kubrick on two classic works from the 1960s, Lolita and the Cold War satirical masterpiece Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

This week’s program will survey Sellers’ rise: from radio and TV comedy in the UK (as part of The Goon Show, with Spike Milligan) to independent British cinema; his emergence as a comedic lead in Hollywood (including The Pink Panther); and primarily his star turns for Kubrick.

Songs for Swingin' Sellers PETER SELLERSWe’ll hear film trailers, comedy routines, novelty songs, music from his movies, audio clips, remixes, and commentary.

“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays during KCSB’s Spring Quarter from 11am-12noon.
