Of his next broadcast, host Dick Flacks writes, “The April 4 broadcast of ‘Culture of Protest’ falls on the 45th anniversary of the murder of Martin Luther King. It’s also 4 days before this year’s Yom Hashoah–the designated day of holocaust remembrance. Such remembrance is profoundly important, and songs help us evoke memory and emotion useful for reflection. We’ll particularly mark the way songs express and helped advance Jewish resistance in the ghettoes and the camps. And try to tie threads of resistance from the past to the present. We’ll also hear MLK’s voice on the eve of his death in Memphis.”
“Culture of Protest” airs on Thursdays in the winter from 6-7pm.
