On today’s edition of “The Freak Power Ticket” (Monday, March 25th), producer/host Ted Coe will be joined by guest co-host Sasha Green, lead vocalist and co-songwriter for the new garage-rock quartet Massenger. Featuring two former members of much-missed Franklin for Short, Massenger was recently signed to Fullerton’s Burger Records label.
Green will share a few Massenger tracks during her hourlong “Freak Power Ticket” appearance, while also providing a sense of her own radio work as a DJ for KSSR 89.7 FM, a local pirate-radio station shuttered by the FCC in mid-July of 2012.
Green’s alter-ego on KSSR was Slshr, and she hosted two programs at the anything-goes Ventura operation, which continues to podcast at thepeoplesradio.tumblr.com.
Green originally moved to Ventura from the east coast to study photography and film at the Brooks Institute. Her love of cinema was revealed on her KSSR program “Movie Music Madness,” which survives online in her “SLSHR Session” podcasts.
Today’s appearance will give KCSB listeners a glimpse into her various creative projects.
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays from 11am-12noon during UCSB’s winter quarter.
