Of the next edition of “The Freak Power Ticket” (Monday, December 17), producer/host Ted coe writes: “Today’s broadcast honors the three main wellsprings behind the holiday phenomenon called A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Cartoonist Charles Schulz‘s Peanuts characters live on in his timeless comic strip (still published in daily newspapers around the globe by United Feature Syndicate), animated specials, and mass-market merchandising; pianist/composer Vince Guaraldi‘s jazz score to the work is a staple of holiday-season playlists; and the less well-known animation director Bill Melendez has been cited by the celebrated filmmaker Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Live Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Moonrise Kingdom) as one of his three main influences – alongside Orson Welles and François Truffaut.

On today’s show, we’ll share Guaraldi outtakes and originals, remixes and re-interpretations, snippets of dialogue, and commentary about the trio behind this understated masterpiece.”

“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Monday’s in the Fall from 11am-12noon.
