Ted Coe, producer/host of “The Freak Power Ticket,” writes, “My show tomorrow will feature part 2 of a series of planned tributes to the pop hitmaker Burt Bacharach.
The broadcast will continue a multi-part retrospective (which began last December) of the legendary composer and performer, now 84 years of age and still performing publicly: featuring a selections of hits, album tracks, and singles, plus tributes, remixes, and covers by a number of artists who perform in a range of genres, who seem to be just as appreciative and inspired by Bacharach’s work from the Swingin’ Sixties, Seventies (and beyond) as I.
Cameos in the Austin Powers films (and appearances by his music in other popular works) have created a revival of interest in Mr. Bacharach’s career. My own interest was piqued by his status as an alumnus of the Music Academy of the West in Montecito.
Monday’s show will feature Bacharach’s music as performed by: Mr. Bacharach himself, the Posies, Hooverphonic, Thurston Moore, Sonny Rollins, Love, Mr. Bungle, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, El Chicano, Aretha Franklin, Shonen Knife, and more.”
“The Freak Power Ticket” airs on Mondays in the summer from 11am-noon.
