Jon Wilcox (Marley’s Ghost & Rincon Ramblers) Joins “Roadtunes Sessions” for Live Performance & Interview on Tuesday (10/18)

On Tuesday, October 18th at 8pm, join host Andy Doerr for a musical conversation with local artist Jon Wilcox, on “The Roadtunes Sessions.” Jon, a Santa Barbara native, first gained national recognition in folk music circles in the 1970s, touring widely and recording traditional-flavored singer-songwriter albums.

Jon Wilcox

A highly-regarded veteran of the folk and “almost bluegrass” scene, he has founded – and recorded several CDs with – two remarkable bands, Marley’s Ghost (since 1986) and the Rincon Ramblers (since 1994), both of which he still performs with regularly. Also, both are known for rich vocal harmonies, infectious rhythms, and a wide variety of musical styles. His more recent solo work reflects these same diverse influences, blending Ralph Stanley and Smokey Robinson with R.L. Stevenson, Leonard Cohen, and Joseph Campbell.

Accompanying himself inimitably on the guitar, mandolin, and Irish bouzouki, he sings both his clever and compelling originals and his reverent renderings of traditional Scottish and Irish fare, Appalachian gospel, and the occasional Dylan, Van Morrison, or Merle Haggard song in a seasoned tenor with a rough-edged delicacy, a restrained abandon.

“The Roadtunes Sessions” airs on Tuesdays in the fall from 8-10pm.
