Radio Causeway: Planck Mission Scientists – Feb 1, 2011

Planck is an international satellite that was launched in May 2009 with the task of taking pictures of the entire sky and gathering light from a few hundered thousand years following the Big Bang of roughly, 13.7 billion years ago. The Planck Mission is a European Space Agency mission with collaboration from NASA / JPL.  UCSB scientists working on the Planck Mission, Philip Lubin, Ph.D., Peter Meinhold, Ph.D., Greg Dobler, Ph.D., & Andrea Zonca, Ph.D. stop by Radio Causeway to talk about their work and the early data coming in from the Planck satellite.

“Encoded in the Planck maps is an enormous amount of information, including the birth of our universe and our ultimate fate,” said Philip Lubin, UC Santa Barbara professor of physics.
