Wednesday, November 3rd commences the KCSB 2010 Annual Fund Drive: Celebrating Community Radio. KCSB 91.9 FM is the only community radio station in Santa Barbara and we pump 620 watts of non-commercial radio twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
KCSB provides the local community and online listeners with programming that is underrepresented in mainstream media. Our music programs offer independent and world music of all varieties. Our cultural arts programming discuss edgy topics and events of local interest. Our news and public affairs highlight unpopular, controversial, and neglected perspectives. Our sports programs feature gender equality and non-marquee UCSB sports, as well as the campus’ most successful teams. Over its 49 years, KCSB has developed to reflect such values as justice, media democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression.
The KCSB 2010 Annual Fund Drive gives listeners an opportunity to support this vital community resource while our programmers will be going out of their way to create the station’s best and most engaging broadcasts of the year, with special guests, theme shows, and stories about our latest accomplishments and goals!
KCSB’s programmers show up 24/7 despite the fact that they are all volunteers. Once a year, we ask that you help support them for creating such valuable programming and for all of our contributions to the general community (including special events like our showcase on Saturday, November 6th at the New Noise Santa Barbara festival and digital music conference).
From November 3rd (at 6am) through November 12th (until ’round midnight), supporters can call the station to donate at (805) 893-2424 or can donate online anytime. A minimum pledge of $25 for students and $50 for non-students entitles the donor to a selection of thank-you gifts (including the station’s new KCSB 2010 t-shirt, CDs, DVDs, books, magazine subscriptions, gift certificates, and more).
Make all checks payable to AS/KCSB and address them to KCSB-FM, PO Box 12834, Santa Barbara, CA 93107-2834. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
