This evening from 10pm until midnight (Thursday, February 11th), KCSB 91.9 FM will be broadcasting a benefit concert live from UCSB’s Storke Plaza for victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. KCSB’s coverage of the event begins at 9pm with a live webstream at kcsb.org.
The night is being sponsored by the following organizations: CALPIRG, the UCSB’s Human Rights Council, Associated Students, and Environmental Affairs Board, and features speakers and five bands, opening with Justin Ratowsky, and followed by (in no particular order) Existential Hero, The Brandy Knights, Sprout, and Fred Paveland, with Isla Vista’s DJ Raph on tap to close out the set.
The first hour (9-10pm) will be confined to an Internet-Only stream (accessible by clicking the link below), but then at 10pm the stream will be aired live over the air on 91.9 FM.
At the event, the organizers will raffle off items and gift cards to raise funds from our community. The proceedings will end with a two minute silent candlelit vigil to honor those who have suffered, lost their lives, and been negatively affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
Organizers hope to raise awareness and money for the cause and get as many people as possible involved. All proceeds from the event will be donated to UCSB’S Center for Black Studies Haiti Relief Initiative Fund. Listeners can donate to the cause online by clicking on the link above.
If you have any questions, concerns, or technical problems, feel free to leave a comment on this post and we’ll address it as soon as possible.
