During the first hour of Monday, August 18th’s broadcast of “The Freak Power Ticket” (9-11am on Monday mornings all summer), host Ted Coe discussed a handful of recent documentary films with guest host Harry Lawton (a UCSB professor emeritus), including Man on Wire (now playing in Santa Barbara and around the country), Trumbo (about blacklisted screenwriter and author Dalton Trumbo), and Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson (screening on Saturday, Aug. 30th, 430pm at the Ojai Playhouse Theater, with special guest Alex Gibney, the Oscar-winning director — part of the OjaiDocs summer documentary series). In the future, Coe and Lawton hope to make their movie-review discussions a semi-regular part of the KCSB schedule. Tune into their inaugural conversation (joined in progress), below.
