Indie-folk group Port O’Brien, from Oakland, California, are slated to drop by the KCSB-FM studios from 3-4pm today (Wednesday, July 9th). They’re scheduled for a conversation with DJ Mammary, the host of “Snaggle-tooth” (airing Wednesdays from 1-4pm) and possibly a performance (in rearranged studios a bit cramped due to ceiling repairs and contingencies for the area’s rolling blackouts). Noted for its nautical themes and art-pop sensibilities, Port O’Brien has toured with such artists as Nada Surf, Bright Eyes, The Cave Singers, and Modest Mouse, while M. Ward called the quintet his “favorite new band” on pitchforkmedia.com.
Port O’Brien headlines later tonight at Muddy Waters Café (508 E. Haley Street). This event is brought to you by Club Mercy, and co-sponsored by KCSB. Showtime for this all-ages show is listed as 8pm, and the opening act is the indie sextet, The Builders and the Butchers, from Portland, Oregon.
