KCSB Sponsors Magic Lantern and A&L Films’ Screenings of “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” Fri., 4/25, & Mon., 4/28

diving bell and the butterflyOn Friday, April 25th, and Monday, April 28th, Magic Lantern Films and UCSB’s Arts and Lectures present Julian Schnabel’s acclaimed motion picture, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007), which is the remarkable true story of Jean-Dominique Bauby. A successful and charismatic editor-in-chief of French Elle, Bauby believes he is living his life to its absolute fullest when a sudden stroke leaves him in a life-altered state. While the physical challenges of his fate leave him with little hope for the future, he begins to discover how his life’s passions, his rich memories and his newfound imagination can help him achieve a life without boundaries.

The New York Post promises that “you won’t have a more viscerally emotional experience at the movies this year,” while Variety Magazine calls The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, “A remarkable true story that comes to the screen with an exhilarating disregard for conventional rules.”

The Friday April 25th screenings are at 7PM & 10PM at the Isla Vista Theater (960 Embarcadero Del Norte). The Monday, April 28th screening starts at 7:30PM at UCSB’s Campbell Hall. Student Admission for all screenings is free. For general admission tickets, call (805) 893-3535, go to the A&L website, or purchase them at the A&L Ticket office or at the door.
