KCSB Sponsors 4 Events This Weekend!

bmsrOn Friday, September 28th, at the Isla Vista Theater, Magic Lantern Films and KCSB-FM is putting on a FREE show with Black Moth Super Rainbow. BMSR is an experimental band, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that has releases on Graveface Records and Southern Records, and has been booked onto tours supporting the Flaming Lips and Aesop Rock. Its music contains elements of psychedelia, folk, electronica, and pop, and BMSR’s trippy live performances incorporate background projections of dated exercise videos, cartoons, and instructional films. Showtime is 8pm. The Isla Vista Theater is at 960 Embarcadero Del Norte, in Isla Vista. (Duh.)

joatOn Saturday, September 29th, the Presidio Motel hosts the Jill of All Trades women’s craft, art, creative foods, and music faire, an event sponsored by KCSB 91.9 FM. Live bands throughout the day include Mini Love, The Stove, The Volt Per Octaves, Clitorectomy and the Mutilators, and live DJs, including Tara Uliasz of KCSB’s T-Rexed Media (Mondays, 10pm-midnight). Jill of All Trade’s proceedings begin at 11am and conclude at 7pm, and the event is free and open to the public. The Presidio Motel is at 1620 State Street in midtown Santa Barbara. rahzelLater that evening (starting at 8pm), ClubMercy and KCSB-FM presents experimental hip-hop vocalist Rahzel, formerly of the Roots, live in concert, with Supernatural and DJ JS-1. javier baronFinally, on both Saturday and Sunday, September 29th and 30th, Flamenco Arts presents the 8th Annual Flamenco Arts Festival, featuring Javier Barón in a production of Dos Voces Para Un Baile, a solo performance of ballet flamenco with live musical accompaniment. Showtime is 8pm, on Sept. 29th, at the Lobero Theater, which is at 33 E. Canon Perdido in downtown Santa Barbara. On Sept. 30th, the Flamenco Arts Festival also features four 2-hour Guitar and Dance Workshops, from 1030am-430pm, at the Santa Barbara Ballet Center, which is at 1019 Chapala Street.
