If you are interested in becoming a DJ, News or Sports broadcaster, or volunteer with KCSB, we will be having our Summer orientation meeting on Wednesday, June 27th, at 6pm at KCSB (located under Storke Tower on the UCSB Campus). No previous experience is neccessary; hope to see you there!
A full map of campus and parking information can be found here.

I am interested in volunteering as a dj with KCSB. I would like to bring an old time be bop and jazz program to KCSB similar to the radio programming I used to listen to as a young kid primarily found on the legandary FM jazz stations in the NY/NJ area.
I also have ideas of a classsic rock show with the intent of bringing the legendary sound and personality of the once great New York rock radio (WNEW) to the kids of the UCSB campus.
I am an incoming freshman I would really like to be involved with KCSB, but i will not be able to be there for this meeting date. What should I do? Are freshman even aloud to be part of it?
I would love to help you out Sam. I am from Long Island and really enjoy listening to jazz on the LIU radio station. I’ve played guitar in a jazz band for the past four years and love it.
On the other end of the spectrum, I also am in a rock band. My influences are mainly classic rock players.
So, I’m very interested in working at the radio station. I’ve always wanted to do something like this and I know the best time to try is in college.
Madeline- freshmen are definitely allowed to be a part of the station! in fact, we very much encourage it! we have orientation meeting at the start of each quarter, so when you come in the fall we’ll have one that you can come to. also, if you are coming to one of the 2-day orientations, come to the kcsb tour and we’ll tell you all about what you can do.
see you in the fall!
Sam, Brooke- i dont know if you made it to the meetings or not, but if you have a program idea, i really want to encourage you to come to a meeting and get trained so you can propose a show. dont wait for someone else to do it!! if you think you have a good idea for a program come by the station!
Hey, i love listening to KCSB and i would love to hear more reggae music. Dub and roots plus a lot of California reggae.
