Zac Harmon on “Bluesland”

Musician Zac Harmon will be on “Bluesland” Monday, September 18th, from 1pm to 4pm, to talk about his new album, “The Blues According to Zacariah” Zac will be on The Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise along with the host of “Bluesland” Leo Schumaker. Mr. Harmon competed in The Blues Foundation competition in 2004 and won the title “Best New Unsigned Artist” and gave Zac world wide recongition. Plastic Fantastic

KCSB DJ Mark will be spinning at The Mercury Lounge, September 30th at 8pm as part of the Plastic Fantastic Showcase. This showcase will feature an evening of toy photography and feature photography from many artists.

Interview with Peter Bouckaert, Human Rights Watch

Peter Bouckaert is the Emergencies director for Human Rights Watch and was interviewed from Southern Lebanon today. He is continuing to document conditions there in the aftermath of war and discusses the impact on villages, the use of cluster bombs and war crimes committed by Israel and Hezbollah.

Bouckaert is a University of California at Santa Barbara graduate and the recipient of the Storke Award, the highest honor given an undergraduate. He has worked on human rights issues in the US, South Africa and in conflict zones in Chechnya, Sudan, Iraq and Afghanistan among others.

Interview: Mexican Presidential Elections

After much election controversy Mexico’s Electoral Court announced Felipe Calderon of the National Action Party (PAN) the winner of the Presidential race. President-elect Calderon will take office in December for his single six-year term. After much controversy over the election results, Mr. Calderon is asking for national unity in solving Mexico’s major problems. Reporter Harry Lawton interviewed UCSB Professor Christina Venegas regarding the elections.
